My wife Minnie worked in a bookshop for years, from the age of 14, right up into university.
This has given her special ninja bookshop powers.
She can wrap a book like you wouldn’t believe. Symmetrical folds, evenly matched pieces of tape and beautifully balanced bows.
She can also spot a book from 10 paces amidst the chaos of our bookshelves. I can stand there methodically scanning each shelf for minutes until giving up and asking Minnie. She walks up and can pinpoint a book within 15 seconds.
It’s unbelievable. She’s developed this Rainman-esque super memory for book covers. How she sees through the books in front, I don’t know.
