Word of the Day: Misology

Word of the Day: Misology

Definition: a hatred of reason. A distrust of logical debate.

Going far beyond plain old cognitive dissonance—the holding of conflicting viewpoints—misology seems to be quite popular.

With shock-jocks and jumentous journalists, and many of our politicians, a common thread is ‘don’t you tell me how…’

Whereas France reveres its intellectuals, in Australia there is a tendency towards anti-intellectualism.

You and your book-learnin’! We don’t need none of your fancy ‘logic’ around here!
